God never intended for His people to run on "empty". His purpose in sending the Holy Spirit was to empower His people to live the Christian life (in all circumstances) and to empower them to be lights in the world. The degree of success that we achieve in these two areas is largely dependent on our relationship with the Holy Spirit. There are three types of people in the world - those do not have the Holy Spirit in them, those who have the Holy Spirit in them but do not walk in Him, and those who have the Holy Spirit in them and walk in spiritual power.
